Privacy Policy

SeeBoop is a peer-to-peer pet monitoring app. We built it with privacy as a first principle — your video never touches our servers. This policy explains exactly what we do and don't collect.
1. What we collect
- Email address — used for account creation, login, and transactional emails (billing receipts, password reset).
- FCM / APNs push token — so we can send you noise and motion alerts when your Viewer app is in the background. Stored per device and rotated whenever the OS issues a new token.
- Device metadata — device name, platform (iOS / Android / macOS / Windows), and app version. Used to identify which device is acting as Station or Viewer.
- Billing receipts — if you purchase Premium, we store a billing event record (amount, date, Stripe or RevenueCat event ID). We do not store card numbers; those remain with Stripe / Apple / Google.
- Pairing metadata — the name you give each pairing (e.g. "Living Room") and the time it was created. Used to label notifications and recordings.
- Recordings (Premium only) — if you opt in to cloud recordings, video clips are stored on our servers encrypted at rest and are accessible only to you. You can delete them at any time from the app.
2. How we use it
- Account authentication and session management (JWT, short-lived tokens).
- Delivering push notifications for noise and motion events.
- Processing and reconciling payments via Stripe and RevenueCat.
- Storing cloud recordings you explicitly trigger (Premium feature).
- Diagnosing errors via crash reports (if you opt in via Sentry).
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Data retention and deletion
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Cloud recordings are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted unless you delete them sooner. When you delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account), we erase your email, FCM tokens, device records, pairing metadata, and cloud recordings within 30 days. Billing records are retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations; they are anonymised after account deletion.
4. Third-party processors
- Stripe — processes web payments. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — processes in-app purchases on iOS and Android. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection for seeboop.com. Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP, user agent) per their standard terms.
- Hetzner — our VPS host. All server-side data is stored in Hetzner datacentres in the EU.
- Google Firebase (FCM) — delivers push notifications to Android devices. Push tokens are shared with Google's FCM service.
- Apple APNs — delivers push notifications to iOS and macOS devices. Push tokens are shared with Apple's APNs service.
5. Cookies
The web app (app.seeboop.com) uses a single authentication cookie (HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Strict) to maintain your session. The landing page (seeboop.com) sets no cookies. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
6. Children
SeeBoop is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above.
